How to Protect Yourself from Measles Virus?
The most important way to protect yourself from measles virus is vaccination. The vaccine administered in our country is the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine, which is repeated in 2 doses at age 1 and between ages 4 and 7. During epidemic periods, the Ministry of Health administers an additional dose at 9 months. It has been shown that encephalopathy and autism are not related to the MMR vaccine. MMR, which is a live vaccine, is not safe to administer to pregnant women or individuals with suppressed immune systems.
